Childcare & ECEC

Every person who works or volunteers at your service has to be on the National Early Childhood Worker Register, and every one of them has to hold current child safety training. New starters have 14 days. Refreshers fall due every two years. Applysmarts keeps the register current, tracks who is due, and keeps the completion certificates on file.

Education and Care Services National Law · National Quality Framework · ACECQA

This is a workforce tracking problem more than a policy problem. Casuals, agency staff, students and volunteers all count. People start, finish, and come back. Each change resets a clock, and the register has to reflect it. Authorised officers can ask to see your staff records and evidence of training, so the paperwork has to be right on the day, not reconstructed afterwards.

Penalties under the National Law were increased substantially, with higher maximums again for large Victorian providers. Victorian services also have their own child protection training that repeats annually on top of the national requirement.
