Victoria’s retirement village rules changed. Operators must use the prescribed standard form residence and management contract, give every resident an annual check of their contract, and report disputes to Consumer Affairs Victoria within 14 days of the annual meeting. Applysmarts tracks the contracts, schedules the annual checks, and gets the reporting out on time.
These are not one-off tasks. The annual contract check repeats for every resident, every year. The dispute report falls due after each annual meeting. If you run several villages, that is a recurring schedule across hundreds of contracts, and it is the kind of work that quietly slips when it is tracked in a spreadsheet.
Using the wrong contract form carries a penalty of up to $61,053 for a body corporate. A Code of Practice is also in consultation, which will add further obligations once it is made.
We are building out the detail on this page. If you want to talk through where your village sits against the new requirements, book a call and we’ll go through it with you.
